I am hoping to pick up a new Sal tommorow(i hope) or early next week,my questions are these,a)ph ...b)adult size(in home aquaria)..c)compatability with tankmates??Also is a bare bottom tank ok??Thanks!!
SAL'S are semi- agressive and can tolerate other large fish such as pacus, aros, GG'S, Cichlids, Tinfoil Barbs, Bala Sharks, etc... be careful of catfish. There may be some territoral issues regarding caves. It has been known the biggest SAL measured in at 36'' so they can get 2'+. I don't know P.H so I will just say 6.5-7.2 should be fine.

I would not put tinfoil barbs or cichlids with SAL as they think the pectoral fins of SAL are some kind of worms. I keep losing the pectoral fins of my SAL due to this.
It also depend on the size of the SAL. Some are aggressive and some are not. It's actually a hit or miss. Most peopel are lucky to get away of mixing them with other fish. I currently keeping mine with bichirs, gars, arowanas, knifefishes, large catfishes, spiny eels, datnoids and snakeheads.
If and when i get mine it will live with a Jardini, and larger Catfishes,it is supposed to be 14",so it will be as large as the Jar and larger than most of my cats by a little.
