i just got a tank. it hasnt had water in it for about a month. there is a thick layer of algae growing on the sides.. how do i take it off?

or jus use water n an algea scrubber. but razor blade would be the easiest. im guessing you got that cube ray tank? damn you lol. post pics already. n hit me up if u want a black still, my lfs jus got some in but there kinda pricy

thats compared to a standard piano

compared to a 180

compared to a school textbook.

as u can see theres the aglae. how do i get that off. the box cutters dont work really good. i tried on one side..
what can i use?
it might be forsale if anyones interested.
my dad said okay but when he saw it he started yelling "thats not going in ur room!"

get one of those floating magnet scrubbers. they are really handy. I only use a razor blade if the algae is really hard.

just get in there and clean it!

lol

that tank is sick. i'd buy it from you if i had a full on ray breeding program going. keep that thing dude, ur motoros will love it.

vinegar was great for the calcium stains. but for the algae it didnt work.

Try soaking it for a couple of days (use a spray bottle and cover it with plastic wrap to stop evaporation (a little heat wouldn't hurt here either, just keep everything wet)), then use the blade and scrubs (some scrubs will scratch glass, get the ones for teflon pans)...after you've got the top layer off you can try a solvent on whats left (work youre way up the sale to acetone & M.E.K.) Rinse tank profusely afterwards

OR...fill it with water and start raising pleco's and siamese algae eaters ( a few hundred should do the trick) :D

As far as your Dad not wanting it in 'ur' room, guess he wants it in the living room! It makes a good coffee table :D .
