Hello all, been away from the hobby for a bit. Had a couple of questions. To get back into things, I have a 20G Tall, Im setting up......Ive always had Jack Dempseys. But they have all been loners.

I would like to put 3 fish in this 20.....maybe a datnoid, or convict, with the jack.......Now mind you I know the tank is small, and this tank is in no way a permanent fixture.

I plan on doing a custom 90G while this is up and running. All the above fish are little guys right now about 2''.......I plan on having the 90 up and running in six months, Im thinking the 3 of them would be ok in th 20 for a few months (as far as size goes).

My main concern is the fish being good tank mates. Like I said the Jacks I have had were always in a solo tank......So Im not to sure on compatible buddys.......Any input is greatly appreciated.....thanks for reading

Sounds like a good plan. Think that the fish will grow faster than you think though. Be ready with that 90 sooner than 6 months and you're good to go. Might have some agro issues between the jd and con in a small tank, just keep an eye on it.

I was thinking that as well, but just in case I have a nice divider if it comes to that...........

Maybe sart growing our the jd by itself and get a con when the big tank is ready. 20 is pretty small, double so when a divider is put in place.

you just have to watch them carefully and if anything speed up the 90g process ;)

I think the JD will outgrow a 20 gallon tank in 6 months, especially if you divide it.
