I picked up a cray last weekend, it seems to be doing well in my tank, however it seems to be a really picky eater. It's demolishing my amazon swords and some kind of grassy plant, and won't touch high protein catfish pellets or vegetables I've put in...What kind of veggies could I put in that he'd actually go for? I've tried carrot and lettuce.

i've heard cucumber carrots and peas work well

Haven't tried cucumbers or peas yet, what size would you cut carrots into, would they want to chew away at larger pieces, or bite sized? Btw..I didn't know other people from CT used the internet =0.

lol i know. uh they usually chew away at big pieces

He doesn't seem to want them, is there any way to train him to eat them? My plants aren't doing so well as it is

Mine took awhile to really want supplemental foods. You are not going to be able to prevent it from eatin gyour plants.

I put plant clippings in my tank for my cray to munch on. I also supplement with pellets (Ken's veggie sticks with added calcium). It did take a few weeks for my cray to feel comfortable in the tank and take my prepared food offerings readily.

Ahh, I'll give him another week or so-what kind of meat would a cray want? My plants are doing bad as it is, id he doesn't stop eating them he's gonna be fish chow.

What typ of cray is it? different crays have different needs.

90% of crays love lettuce but if Ur expecting it to eat it on the spot they wont... I put the lettuce in the tank and set a rock on it to hold it down and forget about it... my cray will finish it off within 2 days. :nilly:

(if u try this make sure its ripe lettuce because rotting lettuce will mess with ur water parameters)

It's nothing special, it's just a grey cray, the kind you'd pull out of any north eastern river, it was $2 at a pet store.
