Anyone have any success getting their ctenopomes to grow quicker? My larger one has been at around 4" to 4 1/2" for months. They get HBH Supersoft krill pellets, frozen krill, frozen bloodworms and occasionally frozen beefheart. I change about 15 gallons out of the 75 per week. Larger water changes maybe? OR are they slow growers no matter what?

My leopard grew pretty fast shot rught up to 3'' slowed a little and is now at 4''-4.5'' and appears its growth is slowed way down but its bulking up nicely and is still growing it may be that they slow down when they hit this size don't know can't remember how old mine is i think its around 7-8 months so its grown pretty quick

Its all ways been with some kind of cichlid and has gotten large water changes weekly 40-50% which helps it eats everything Krill, silversides, squid, scalops, fish fillets it got tons of bloodworms when small and it eats plenty of pellets cichlid bio gold is what i usually feed i think that helps its growth

I have a large pair around 8" they are 8 years old, grew them out in a 75g then to a much larger tank. I have them in a 180g. They grow slow, I have
clown loaches that grow faster.

8" !!!!! holy cow! Those must be cool.

they are VERY slow growers.
i had a pair of 1 inchers get to 2 inches in a year...
really ? hmm mabye water params affect there growth rate alot

Weird. I have seen other people have similar experiences, though. Dats that grow 6"+ in one year vs. dats that grow 1" per year. Young dats, that is.

I recently went to a lfs where they had a 6" one for sale. I was impressed. Never seen one that big before.
