Is there a trick to this? Think a group of 4 could be accomplished in a 120 gallon heavily planted tank or is that way too small? Is that a sufficient number or are these guys like cichlids where you need 6+ to spread out aggression?

Thoughts, insults, death threats?

Mate, Spilos are also one of the few serra spicies that can be kept as a shoal, under the condition all your shoal had been kept together since a very early age, the younger the better....

Cheers.

most likely will get macs. Spilo are kind of rare and macs are common to come by and from what I heard do well in a group.

Guy that I met a few times from p fury kept 8 6-8 in macs in a 125 and ended up with three different pairs. Sold them to a breeder.

nice fish. Im can't tell the difference between macs and spilos enough to know which it is.

Just saying if you are trying to get multiples at a time to shoal, you are most likely going to end up with macs.

Lfs just got some in they are charging 18 a piece for quarter size macs.

yeah me neither. I have no idea. It's friggin gorgeous whatever it is, and if you say spilopleura I'm inclined to agree with you. you have no idea how bad I want a shoal of these guys. spilo or mac either one. Dream tank. I know it's been done but they're serras that look and act some much like pygos it's really cool.

Considering I paid $125 for it I'd hope it's a nice fish :D

Thinking about picking up 3 more and doing a heavily planted tank with em'.

dude it's awesome. How big is it?
