Hello I just picked up a 5" lima shovel nose and was wondering how I can get it to eat? It shares a tank with a 4" endli, and a 6" african knife. I have frozen silversides, bloodworms, freeze dried krill, and masses of all kinds of pellets. But I have yet to see it eat yet? I've tried feeding small pieces of silversides and bloodworms with tongs but he's just too timid. I've left pieces in overnight after heavily feeding the other two but they're still in the next morning. I've dropped some pellets in at night but they're either eaten or I assume they've dissipated. Do you imagine he's been eating them? The tank is a 120. Thanks

Mine took a few days to settle in,and what worked was bloodworms and small or cut in half silversides.
He never did take pellets.

They are really picky eaters unfortunately D:
I feed mine at night time or when the lights are off because thats when they are more active :]:nilly:

i left roses in with mine and when they were gone i changed him over to pellets till he jump out the tank from a blue gill chasing him

Give it some time to settle in they are usually skittish when small. Provide some plants for it to hover in they like that when they are small.

earthworms thats all my little one would eat

Mine will primarily eat pellet. Veggie, krill, shrimp, whatever. Try not feeding for at least a day, two if you can make yourself wait ;) (i personally have a hard time skipping feedings) and then drop a few in. At first mine wouldn't eat with the light on, or with me in front watching, but after a few days, she settled down and now she will swim up and down showing off. How long have you had it?

It took my Limas about 4 to 5 weeks and that is when it started eating. Mine had to get comfortable with the tank before it ate anything.

I've had it just about a week now. I cut up some silversides last night pretty small and left them inside the tank, they were gone in the morning so not sure if the Lima's the one that got them but we'll see. Thanks for all the replies!
