My dad told me I would get $100 dollers for fish if I got good grades and I get a $50 check every Xmas. So I'm going to have $150 to spend on fish. I want to spend about $50 on plants. I only gave a 55 so all the fish I get can't get to o big. I know that I'm getting a EBJD. What are some cool fish that are in my price range.

oscars work very well with JD's. just get a JD and one oscar. if not, you could get an EBJD with a pair of terqouise severums, and a parrot fish if u like them..
my old 55 last year was an oscar, three terqouise severums (mated pair) and a blood parrot. which was a large bio load on a tank that small, but water changes and filtration is your answer key.

First off, snowflake eels are brackish, Pacu can get over 2', and gars will out grow the 55 in a matter of no time, and oscars need a 75 gallon minimum
I agree with above. All the fish previously mentioned will easily outgrow the 55g. EDIT: He beat me to the post. Senegals can live for life in a 55g and most loaches can too.
Since it seems you want the ebjd to be the main focus of your tank, I suggest you go with some smaller ram cichlids, a shoal of 6-8 cory catfish, and a large shoal of tetras.
