I'm picking up my 150 gal on Sunday and I'm looking to put two rays in it, a male and female. The species I'm looking at are hystrix, reticulated and scobina. Hopefully the rays that my LFS has labeled teacups are one of those species. (I know teacups are generally stingrays with disc no bigger than 5 or 6 inches in diameter)

With that said I was wondering what would be a good tank mate for the rays? Whatever that is I'm probably going to use that fish for the cycling process. I heard Fire eels are good, I was wondering would any eel be good, i.e. tire track eel? Since I'm going with 2 rays how many other fish would I want in there?

Thanks, Bryan

Here's a pic the guy sent me.

get a schooling like fish in a partially planted tank
:d
like silver $'s
or something cooler

maybe discus
:D

What are the exact sizes of that tank? It looks pretty high to me and not deep enough to house some stingrays. The species you've mentionned are indeed the smaller ones but don't forget they all can reach 10-12" disc or even more.

Grtz,
Nico

Tire track eel IMO. I had them in with my rays. Make sure you have some sort of hiding place for any eel you get. One thing I noticed with my tire track was it would eat nightcrawlers. Make sure you have enough food for the rays.

I WOULDNT GO WITH SILVER DOLLARS WITH JUVINILE RAYS....., ADULTS YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH THEM THOUGH...... AS FAR AS WIDTH I WOULDNT TRY KEEPING ANY RAYS IN ANYTHING LESS THAT 24" WIDE..... EVEN THE SMALLEST RAY....
