:woot: :woot: Getting my 220 on line!!!! :woot: :woot:

Hey guys and gals!

so here she is, not yet fully fully completed but a good way there!
she has built in wet/dry overflows/sumps at the sides. Its because i really like filtration. I
like for visitors and appreciators of the tank to understand the
importance of the filtration as much as they will appreciate the fishies.
(how nerdy is that?!)

she is basically 2 ocean runners at 2500lph and the tank works out at about 220gals.
probably turning over at at least 5 times an hour.

I have no lights and no lid yet but im working on maturing and cycling the tank.
not sure how exactly i want to stock it yet. Cichlids and cats definitely but the
challenge was to build her and i did.

[[[ btw, camera is a nikon coolpixS6 ]]]

constructing and glass cut and the tank ready to fill some months later

pump test, it took almost no time for the tanks to start clearing up. i figure the well water may already have some small bb populations
so cycling may be a little quicker than with tap water...

so water from the main central tank falls into the w/d summp tanks on either side of the tank through
a whole lotta sponges and scrubbies. it then flows into the pump housing and back into the main tank.
water from the main tank cannot get directly into the pump housing so im hoping the pumps stay clean.
pumps are behind the media and return water to the tank through simple hoses.

WOW that water was dirty going in, it cleared up nice. I wish I had the nerve to build a tank that size. Are those crabs running around in there? Well done building the overflows and sump into the tank!

Stock it with bichir tons of bichirs and maybe a black aro with a natural african type of theme with driftwood, amazon swordtails and such.
Awesome Tank

yeah, there are a couple of crab, i thought some detritivores would be useful in keeping the tanks clean and the water is very well oxygenated for them thanks to the w/d filtration... ;)

good question, i wanted to either fill it with gravel and soil and have some cool plants rooted in water but growing their leaves out of the tanks so as not to interfere, and being a nice external addition to the tank. or i wanted it to be a refuge for small fish or fry so they can escape older bigger predators. it also is good reinforcement for the sides, back and bottom glass pane to keep the tanks rigid. :grinno:

MAN!! Pimpin!!!Man That will be aweome if you put plants in the rear!! As well as or fish refuge!!
