hi all, need some advice on getting my 5' jardini to start eating hikari stick. just got it for a week and all along have been feeding it dry krill and was thinking to mix it's diet for better nutrition and i understand that starving it for few days should make it start eating it.. but after 2 days + of starving it still refuses to eat it and i see it biting it and spiting it out almost immediately whenever i tried to feed it. finally gave in to it and feed it dry krill again .. any advice guys??

5 Feet?!?!?! Have you tried small dogs or cats. It might even go for small toddlers if you throw them in there and its hungry.

That's what I was thinking. Is this a record?

But seriously, changing any fish over to a new food is usually a painstaking process. It won't happen overnight. It took me over 3 months to get my cichla off of live food and onto talapia fillets, and I am only half way there as I have to get them from talapia to pellets now. Good luck, and patience is the key.

' this means feet.
" this means inches.

My advice would be to continue to starve it for more than 2 days. Fish can go for weeks without eating, so 2 days is nothing. It is obviously recognizing the pellets as edible and it will eventually give in and swallow them. My 10" silver will not take anything but pellets now. Even the feeders I throw in there for my gar are ignored by him.
