getting my alligator off feeders

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
dont feed him for a day or so then put in the frozen food you want him to start eating. As long as you dont give him another option he will start eating the frozen food .

I got my Armatus Characin to eat dead food. Whatever he is currently eating that is alive, kill it , freeze it then feed it to your fish. Keep trying. When successful, then feed it other healthy unliving options.

gators are practically garbage disposals. they will eat anything. its just the matter of training them.

yep, mines eat anything from catfish pellets to anything that fits down their throat. Having said that once they grow bigger and stay in a large aquarium, i think they lose the tendency to chase things (especially small things) ... having said that i have tried placing a platinum koi with 2 gars and sure enough it was gone fairly quickly ... my theory is that it was too bright and attracted unwanted attention.

there is something about siver/shiney fish that attract gars. they tend to attack almost anything that is silver. and this isnt just for gators but for all gars.

mine immediately took hikari food sticks....then i just kept throwing in normal pellets and he couldnt get enuf!!! grew from 7'' to 20'' with just PELLETS! u gotta be determined and NEVER GIVE UP! trust me ure gar will NOT starve to death..even after weeks
