Getting my dovii on wednesday from Rapps

I'm super excited to be getting my first male dovii. Ordered it from Jeff Rapps. If anybody else has ordered the Nic. Dovii and has pics, please post them. I'll post pics of him when he comes in.

Ill post mime later, but i im very dissapointed with the dovii pair he sent me, i hope you get a nice one.

I ordered umbee, isletas, and trimacs and a pair of dovii. The dovii were about 4 to 5 inch , all the other stock is beautiful and very high quality, but the dovii dam! The male is completly brown and only comes out to eat sooooo skittish. maybe i just got unlucky, but im very interested to see what you get, hopefully much nicer then mine. Good luck
 
Wow.....Did you really bump your thread after it was only open for 42 minutes?

And Aquatik, Dovii are normally pretty skittish until they get a bit larger. I'm sure they'll come out of it. Mine really turned into a grade A #&$ hole banging on glass and attacking the algae scrubber at about 9".

And they'll likely color up once they're acclimated to their new home and grow a bit. Mine didn't really get great coloring until about the 8" mark, and now he's awesome. Give it time, good food, and good water quality, and I'm sure they'll be stunners.

As a side note, Dovii change colors. Mine goes from light blue to dark purple for the fins and head and the side changes colors as well, and he can vary from really colorful to washed out depending on mood (mostly), substrate, lighting, and if he knows he's going to be fed or not.
 
I got them 8 months ago there 8 inch now, i have lots of dovii, these two are very scared trust me
 
I know some dovii are late bloomers but i have a complete stumner who is 12 inch and he had color at 4 inch. IMO its not worth keeping a fish in the hopes it will turn out nice in 2 years, im sure jeff didnt intention ally send me a brown dovii but **** happens. Sorry to hear that Aquatik. Mine's a spawn from one of Rapps F0's and he's very nice.

Luck of the draw I suppose. That's the one thing I don't like about ordering online. You just don't get to see the fish before getting it. You can always see if they'll send you pics of the fish before buying I suppose.
 
Here he is. Right around 4 in. right now. I never realized just how much personality these fish have! I'll try to get better pics after he gets fully acclimated.
