i got a a loisellei who is really shy and goes and hides anytime i get near the tank. he generally stays in one area of the tank and doesnt get far away from it. im a little worried cuz when i feed him, he wont eat due to him hiding. i have seen him eat a piece of food here and there but for the most part he just sits still. should i be worried, or should i just give it some more time? i recently moved some fish and tanks around so that might be it as well, but its been about a week so i am wondering

My Loisellei always hid, I tried everything to encourage him to come out but nothing worked. I was gonna try another cichlid, but was hesitant due to tank size.

im in the same boat, i moved all his tank mates out of the tank and into a bigger one except him, cuz i couldnt catch him. now he just hides in the caves. gonna have to try alittle harder to catch him and return him to his buddies

My female Loisellei is extremely outgoing and is always begging for food. If it's still a young fish give it some time to mature and it might get some more confidence.

I had one for a brief time in my old overstocked cichlid 125 and it was always pretty reclusive. In this situation, depending on the tankmates, you might want to add dithers
