My 3-4" NGT will only eat frozen bloodworms-all the other fish icluding AT & NTT eat frozen shrimp/fish. As a result the growth of the NGT is even slower than normal.
I'm off on holiday for 2 weeks-do you think this is long enough to get him to try and eat frozen shrimp on my return? I've tried to wean him in the past but he went weeks without eating as a result.
Any one got any strategies they've used in the past.
Thanks in advance
ROB :(

Separate him let him fast for a week then try earthworms, mine loves em.

dont worry mate, tigers are incredibly tough and resistant fish. They can go ages without food, but will not stave to death. I have a NGT about 5 inch, who only eats frozen bloodworm cubes and he's totally stable all the time. Also, it may be better if your other tigs grow faster than him, cause when NGT gets bigger it can be a bit if brute, outmuscling other tigers much bigger than thmeselves.
I would keep feeding bloodworm until you go on holiday. when you return after 2 weeks, there's a good chance he'll eat shrimp. ALternatively, tyr frozen beefheart cubes. Occasionally,, mine will take a nibble.

I have NGT that has just eaten last week, after 8 months of no feeders. I was almost going to give in soon, but I'm glad I didn't. ;)

thanks for the reply-I guess I'm a little cautious as I don't want to lose him and hes the smallest in the tank bar my Nandus nandus
I'll just have to be patient

try mixing shrimp and bloodworms so he cant eat one without having the other, that is how i did it..

NGT love blood worm it no hard ship to shack a cube of frozen blood worm in the tank at every feed

just carry on feeding the blood worm and shrip for the other tigers

the NGT will take shrimp one day mine was the same just blood worm for 3 months its no big deal

its a good thing the NGT is smaller than the other tigers as they can be very aggressive to tigers of the same size

Holy *~#?... 8 months!! thats got to be a record. are you saying your NGT ate NOTHING or just NO feeders (live fish or river shrimp) for 8 months? Did it eat any frozen in those 8 months? Just curious van..

It did not eat anything. I was pretty much convinced he was gonna starve himself to death. The only food I was putting in there was MP and FD krill for the other dats and pellets for the FF and silver dollars. It took MP in its mouth a couple of times, but never ate it. He was starting to look a little like Christian Bale in the "The Machinist". He lost ALOT of body weight and has alot of catching up to do to grow. He is still very skinny, but the hard part is over and I'm moving him into the "power feeding" dat tank with a ST and IT to put on some weight.
