Getting Oscar to eat new food

Hey guys and gals,

I'm trying to get my oscar to eat food with more vitamins to help get rid of HITH. I have been soaking his food in the vitamin stuff and feeding it to him, however, he refuses to eat it at all cost. I even didn't feed him a whole day so that when i gave it to him he would be hungry. Everything just gets spit out.
What should I DO? I need a good trick or something

IMO i'd starve him for longer than a day let him really feel hungary then the site of new food will look like curry to a piss head.
 
:iagree: with Dan, it can take up to a week or more to train them on new foods. once they get hungry enough they will eat about anything, but the older they are the more stubborn they can be. tell me though, what were you feeding him before (brands and type) and what are you trying now? you might also try a few different kinds of vitamins if you can find different kinds because maybe this particular one you are using he doesn't care for. I read in another thread (possibly not even on this site) that you can make your own frozen foods and mix crushed baby vitamins into it to get some good vitamins to help prevent/treat HITH. Just a though. you could probably soak a cube of bloodworms in tank water with a crushed baby vitamin for an hour or so and then feed it to the oscar. :)
 
I have been feeding him Hikari Cichlid Gold, Tetra Cichlid sticks, Ocean Nutrician Cichlid veggie formula flakes, sometimes i feed him some shrimp, and have been trying to get him to eat crickets but he won't have it. He also won't eat anything that I have put in the Kent vitamin and mineral supplement.
 
They can be difficult cant they?It's like he kows your up to something.Starve him a week hell eat it.

Are you sure about listerine or are you teasing me? Because I'll believe anything.
