There seem to be a lot of us raising babies right now. I've had so many of you ask how to get them on pellets, but I forgot something. The little guys, under 5" have trouble eating a full size Hikari pellet. I dip mine in the water for about 15 secs, then break them in half, so they are soft enough, like human baby food. My baby hit a fullsize pellet the first day but he was too small to eat it, so I figured out something so obvious I just didn't notice until this tiny little aro of mine, Inferno, came along.
Don't over soak or they will sink. Aro's stalk their food, they like it moving in the current, mine always tags moving ones. If they sink, plecos or cl's will eat the leftovers, if no one in the tank will clean it up, then remove excess or the tank will get skanky quick!
Hope that jibberish made sense!

Good advice...still my aro dosnt eat pellets...
he will how many days? No giving in he's spoiled I sat here typing this exact scenario to Rallysman last year when my first aro wouldn't eat pellets! He eventually jumped and caught like a dog for pellets, so there's a happy ending to your animal abuse. Wait until these mfk clowns tell you to slap your aro, they did, I did, it worked too!

don't know if this works for aros, but my oscar ate A LOT of pellets today when he usually hates them and rather starves, secret? i put garlic powder on the pellets last night

whoops, sorry for averting your thread

Well I was gone for the weekend and I was goin to use that to get a headstart on starvin him onto pellets and well I came home and the first thing i did was feed him FD krill...I was like SH*T! So I guess I have to start over tomarrow, and not forget that im starvin him. Like what kind of garlic powder did u use?

EFFF THE PELLETS for now!!!

get him eating first, bottom line.

shrimp, krill, earthworms, mealworms, catfish and tilapia fillet.

cut into small pieces, soak them in vitachem overnight, add kent marine garlic extract if you like, feed it out the next day.

dont worry about the pellets for now, just bulk up that fish.

When I intro pellets to my fish, I'll make sur the pellets is at extreme small bite size which the aro may just swollow in the first few attempts.

I find that early morning or their first meal of the day is the best tme to intro pellets to them.
