I recently picked up a pair of small retics. They were only eating ghost shrimp when I first got them but they started eating blackworms after a few days. I've tried feeding them a bunch of other foods (krill, market shrimp and chopped nightcrawlers) but they refuse them all. Any suggestions for getting them off blackworms?

I got mine off blackworms on to smelt. But I still feed them to her on ocasion.

slowly start mixing in the nonlive food with the live food...

slowly change the nonlive and live food ratios over the course of a few weeks. you might eventually have to starve the guy till he caves in, dont give in! i once straved a dat for three weeks!

Mixing is the key. You must mix whatever food you don't want to feed anymore with the food you do want to feed. Personally, I took my rays from blackworms and nightcrawlers, to raw shrimp, to Hikari carnivore pellets. As much as I would like to give them a treat every once in awhile, I refrain because the feeding transition took forever: especially the final step to the pellets.

I had a hystrix and after black worms the next day I feed it sinking hikari carnivoris pellets. Refuse it for a week so the days I feed it the pellets it didn't eat. After a awhile the ray loved the pellets then I started introducing other foods and stop feeding with blackworms.

the only other thing i tried is ghost shrimp. he loves to hunt them.
