Right now my motoro is eating ghost shrimp and blood worms. I'd like him to eat Hikari sinking carnivore pellets. I've tried a few in the tank but he doesn't touch them. Is there a secret to get your rays to eat pellets?

You can try soaking the pellets in with the bloodworms (live or frozen). This gets the scent and flavor onto the pellets as well as softens it up which makes it more appealing to the ray. Also, starving for a period of time (depending on size/age) could entice him to eat pellets, as well.

Forgot to mention.. u might try getting it onto frozen foods first. The transition seems easier that way. And if he's eating live bloodworms you can use frozen bloodworms. If he's eating ghost shrimp you can use market shrimp cut into tiny pieces. Good luck!

If you ray is big and healthy you could starve it out. you could also start with a smaller pellet like chiclid gold.

Just to clarify, I am feeding him frozen bloodworms. I tried krill he didn't even touch that. Anymore suggestions to get him to eat pellets would be appreciated. The disk size is about 6.5". Feeding the live ghostshrimp is getting expensive!

It is a waiting game. You just have to keep trying. I would crush up a pellet and then mix it in with thawd out bloodworms, doing this everyday add a pellet or two with it as well. After a week or so try just the pellets. You might have to starve them a few day as well. Rays can be very picky eaters so have patience. If this doesn't work so well it is easer to get them on fresh prawns cut up into small piece first with that method and then go from prawns to pellets. Also once they do start taking other foods stop feeding the bloodworm and ghost shrimp to them till they build up an aggresive appitite towards the other food and then you can treat your rays if you want.

ive had a hell of a time with pellets also. some rays take some dont? i have one ray i dont think will ever take pellets. some took them from day one??

my retic wouldn't take pellets but I made the DIY ray food that Firemedic posted and now he eats that and doesnt need pellets
