In my 55 gallon tank I added new fish and one of the fish got ick, so I added salt to the tank (didn't do qt for my own various reasons) but took my 4 mystery snails out and put them in a bucket. Now it has been a week and a half since the last spot was seen so I need to start getting the salt out of the water so I can put my snails back. Anybody have any ideas of the best way to do it. I thought about 4 50% changes every other day, but not sure. What do you think

Thanks

I wouldnt worry about it. Do a 50 percent change and slowly remove the rest with regular wcs.

25% water change for 3~5 times over a period and it should be safe

Well, in culinary school we leaned that if you oversalt a dish (like a pot of soup) peel a potato and cut it in half, then place it in the pot. The potato will soak up the salt. I'm thinking a couple of potatoes wrapped in cheesecloth floated in the tank would work well in combination with WCs.

and give them osmotic shock! Salinity is NOT affected by volume!

The potato thing only works with boiling water ( I believe .... soup), but anyway, My snails lived through the salting of the aquarium just fine. If you're worried though, I would wait for 3 - 50% wc and call it good.
