getting rid of snails

is there any chemical or something that can be found at home that i can soak my plants in after i buy them before they go into my tank that will get rid of any and all snails/eggs.

what methods do you use to reduce your snail population??

Not my info, this was taken from aquaticcommunity.com- they wrote

"If you do not want to introduce any snails to your aquarium, you should soak plants and gravel in warm salty water before use. 10 minutes in salty warm water will kill the snails and can also prevent other organisms from entering your aquarium, e.g. the Ich parasites that causes White Spot Disease. Remember to thoroughly wash away the salt afterwards."

why use chemicals when you can use clown loach? they would solve that snail problem within a week. . .

clown loaches are social and get sizeable, not suitable for every tank

no, most likely not. bleach dip 1 part bleach to 20 parts water or potassium permangenate in dilution (have to look up right amount) will work.

Yeah!! That stuff works wonders. I use it in my koi pond to kill off the snails. Don't buy from a fish store. It's way too expensive. Go to a plumbing sullpy place. You can get it way cheaper there.

and using a qt. dipping the plants is a great idea but having a qt for them to make sure if you 100% dont want snails.
