Getting Sand from River Bed.

There is a dry river bed near where i live and i was wanting to get sand from there to put in my new tank. Is there anyone out there that has done that before? And do you know if it is safe for my aquarium to do that. Let me know. thanks!

Some of the best looking decor I have are just rocks that Ive found around the yard. Like anything from the wild make sure to thoroughly clean it before introduction to your tank.

That is my point. People just spend money like crazy for things they can just get outside.

i would use it, but i would also run it through some boiling water first

I don't do anything to it. It may sit in a bucket for a few days,but that's it. I have never had any problems.
