I picked up three 3" grammodes about a week and a half ago and they are currently in my 8' tank. When I got them they were thin and looked hungry. My problem with them is that they don't come out from behind the rocks in the tank to eat. I've tried floating pellets, sinking pellets, and earth worms. Should I continue to feed what i have, try a new option, or just wait and see if they become less shy.

I would just wait it out. The one I have is similar, has gotten better now, but is still not a big eater, a pellet or two and thats it.

Grammodes are actually some of the most skittish fish you can get.
Feeding might be difficult at first, but they will pick up.

DO NOT LET their shyness FOOL YOU! IMO the more skittish the more aggressive.
Grammodes especially are the most sneaky, cold-blooded cichlids you can acquire.

Yup theyve earned the name mini dovii for a reason lol.

Any LFS near you sell live blackworms? I've never had a healthy fish of any sort not eat love blackworm

IME grammodes don't eat a lot. Throw some food in their tank, leave them alone for a while, and scoop out what they don't eat. Soon enough you will know how much to give them.

I have noticed that sometimes if you keep fish that eat a lot with fish that don't eat much they will eat more to compete for food. If you have a large enough tank to keep them in, maybe try keeping them with fish that love eating.

I keep them in a tank with two 5-6 inch jags and two 3 inch convicts. I tried some blackworms and they gave it a taste. They are moving around the tank a little more but still kinda shy. I will probably add some schooling fish to make them more comfortable.
