Getting Some New Fish In Tomorrow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Congrats ... I am a big fan of the Black Nasty's

one word of advice on the haitiensis - if possible put them into separate tanks. i think these guys bloat up real easily and it is stress induced. dominant haitiensis are RELENTLESS when it comes to chasing their counterparts around.
a ton of hiding places and even plants seem to do the trick. but if you have four tanks, i strongly recommend raising one fish per tank. i think you will have a much higher success rate. good luck and keep us posted! :)

Can't wait![/quote]
NOR CAN I!!!!

I'm most likely going to put them in prison cells in a 75 for the time being until their future home is built; 500-1000g partitioned tank. They'll be able to get close to spawn, but not get at each other. I've used this method with other brutal cichlids. I'm wondering though if it will work with them.

i did the same thing with my trio.
make sure they don't squeeze past the eggcrate or divider. i had that a few times in which the two females i had somehow or another always ended up in the same tank in the morning with one beating on the other or about to lay a smack down.
eventually i had a pair form and they are doing well in an undivided tank.
i think dividers are the way to go for aggressive cichlids, always.
