So i recently posted info on a Rapps order I made, I got a wild caught silver GT and group of Chanchos. I got another order in a 9 days ago for a 10" wild caught Midas. It is very nice looking and thick. My problem is that I can barely get it to eat. water conidtions are fine, I have had other fish in the same tank eating and growing. I have tried everything, once he ate a massivore delite pellet, but usually ignores them, along with hikari gold pellets, raw shrimp and tilapia, nightcrawlers, etc. Only thing he seems to like are the hikari dry bloodworms. he will eat these and seems to like them but they are tiny and not enough of a meal for him. Its been 9 days, do I just need to be patient or does anyone have advice for me? thanks

Give him a while longer. He'll succumb when there's nothing different to sample. I've had to wait 2 weeks before. Usually 1 week though. Good luck.

yea i hear you. usually my luck with cihclids and i guess most are not wild caught, but they are eating machines, so this is out of the ordinary

Try different live foods. I haven't found a cichlid yet that can say no to live crawdads, or live shrimp. Insects work well too. Crickets, mealworms, etc. Once you have them eating a consistant amout, add in small amounts of dry food and slowly convert them onto a good staple pellet.

yea i agree try earthworms,it never fails,o and could u post some pics when u get a chance.I love midas.

125g alone, expect the pleco, and I have tried putting in other small cichlids to spur some eating. earthworms didnt work, surpisingly enough! but good to hear someone else had similar issues with a wild caught midas from Rapps. I will keep trying, im sure it will get better

well from eating nothing but tiny bloodworms to hand feeding huge canadian night crawlers. now if I can only get him to enjoy pellets, things would be that much better
