I just got my heater for my tank and realized i don't have a GFCI outlet near my tank to plug it in to. Now I no its pretty easy to install one but I really dont like messing with electricals.

Would a GFCI outlet adapter be safe to use instead?

Yes, but don't buy the cheapest you can find. Also make sure you test monthly.
