She's ok with her current tank mates. She nudges my Tiger Shovel nose now and then. No injuries and they have been together for a couple months. I haven't seen her bother him for at least a week now so I think they are settled into their niches.
I was debating on adding another tank mate and tried to put in an 8in Tinfoil barb and it didn't work out at all. She chased him relentlessly so I had to seperate them and return the barb to the LFS. Since everyone gets along ok as it is, I'm going to leave this tank alone now.
I hope her attitude mellows when she gets older. I don't want to go through the process of building a pond for these guys only to have two fish in it. Do you think that as she gets older and has more swimming room that I could put other fish in with her?
What size tank/pond would you recomend for a full grown GG? If she stays aggressive maybe I could get a decent size tank just for her. I'm really attached and don't want to get rid of her but like I said I'm not sure I want to go to the trouble to make a huge home only for her.
I've owned several GGs and I parted with all but my current one due to aggression. Supposedly they will start to mellow at some point but in the mean time they can cause havic for their tankmates.
GGs grow 2' or more but don't require the swimming space that more active fish need. I would consider a tank wider than 2' down the road if possible. Heavy filtration is the key with these guys.
