Ghost shrimp eating neons

Does any one have this problem?? I lose a neon every few days. The only others in the tank is the ghost shrimp.. Poor neons. I am about ready to feed my midas the shrimp!!

unless the neons are under 1/4" and the ghost shrimp over 2", I don't see it happening. Is there nothing else in the tank? Maybe your neons are jumping out or getting sucked into the filter

I'm also gonna say something else is the issue.

What are your water params?

I noticed the only time theyd eat my neons is if they were about to die (a lot slower) or just dead.

My immediate conclusion is that your tetras died and were consumed. They'd be too fast (when healthy) for a ghost shrimp to catch.

I dunno, some of those shrimp are pretty quick. I don't think a ghostie could hold onto a healthly neon of decent size though.

although more likely it reminds me of a vintage tfh magazine that i saw that had an article in it were a guy was convinced that pond snails were killing and eating his fish.

That would seriously suck.. as impossible as that sounds IF it was true... I would feel bad for the guy and ask how he bread Piranha and snails

The water paramiters is fine.. ammonia/nitrite 0ppm. Nitrate I have not checked.. by the time I do a vac and water change, they are faily deluted down.. I have 12 tanks running so not a concern really.. I did see one neon slow and he looked fine but was not their the next day, 5 to 4 now.. Their was a cory cat with them, but he is now in a different tank, unsure if he was the problem. the shrimp would not leave him alone. they were in a 29 gal but with so few now, I moved them to a 15 gal and they seem a lot better now.. I stil may find another place for the shrimp. neat to watch but I would like to add in some more Neons later..
