anyone ever feed their polypterus ghost shrimps?

When i first got my senegal bichir i tried to feed him ghost shrimp. I have him in a community tank, and i figured the ghost shrimp would be the first thing he'd eat if i didn't feed him enough one day. Although he much prefered eating my fish when he got hungry, my ghost shrimp eventually dissapeared but not before half my fish did.

yup feed tham as treats Polypterids don't always recognize them as food right away this can lead to them following behind the shrimp sniffing the water-Anne

My senegal loved them. I feed them gut-loaded a few times a week. They were basically a treat, I used Hikari sinking carnivore pellets as his staple.

Strangely enough, things are reversed for me. My ornate hardly touches the carnivore pellets even though he's been exposed to them for weeks already, yet the ghost shrimp have been disappearing quickly. Shrimps seem to be his staple now. What could be the reason that he hardly eats the pellets?

Maybe its not trained onto the pellets. Try starving it and then feeding it only pellets. Should come around.
