Giant Armoured Shrimp w/Bichirs?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So Oddball, essentially with my Senegal and Delhezi its okay, untill molting then it's Shrimp Cocktail for everyone....However, theoretically if I put a Divider in when the Shrimp is molting then would it be theoretically safe?

Molting or not, bichirs have powerful bite and are capable of doing death roll. It might not be able to crack the shell but it will surely death roll it to pieces.

My 11" Senegals are able to dislocate a frogs bones as I feed them frozen frog legs and it's about 8". It will do the same with the shrimp.

Unless you sit and watch 24/7, you're not going to be able to catch every molt. And, as stated above, the shrimp will be continuously harassed by the polys until they're eaten, ripped of all appendages, or starve themselves while hiding from the polys.
Best recommendation is to either divide the tank from the start or get another tank so as to keep the fish and shrimp separated.
