i'm thinking of getting a LARGE tank but plese give me some advise on how big the tank size should be.(gallons and demensions)
these are the fish...(would 400gallons be all right?)

-1 silver arowana
-1 delhezi bichir
-1 weeksi bichir
-1 fire eel
-1 tiger oscar
-1 tiger shovelnose catfish
-1 lima shovelnose catfish
-1 ornate chaca chaca catfish
-1 clown knife fish
-1 red bellied pacu
-1 needle nose gar
-1 payara

i will also be getting a pond that is 16' by 21'(3000gallons)
so if the fish get too big i can release them there, but i don't think that's a good idea since the fish are tropical so i guess i'll have to get a bigger tank.
and i don't think i'll be getting the payara since i guess it's too hard to feed it.

payara don't seem hard to feed, they just need feeders.

And the delhezi and weeksii will have trouble eating in that tank full of greedy fish that reside on all levels. They are slow at getting food. I have trouble feeding mine, I just chuck LOADS of food in at night.

ok thanks, some people from aquatic predators said that this tank will not be good since at the end i will only be left with a pacu, arowana, and catfish. is this true?
so should i just get couple large tanks instead of one giant tank?

If you leave out the tsn you should be oke, that would be responsible for eating the smaller fish.

And if you want those bichirs, get them, they are lovely fish, but give them a tank of their own with some other peaceful and slow fish that won't steal all the food.

A 400g would be about 10'x2.5'x2', I would think twice about keeping the tiger shoveinose and Payara in there with the other fish. Payara are said to be hard to keep because they need a strong flow of current and the tsn will get big enough to eat your bichirs and chaca if nothing else. the needle nose will be at risk from the aro. I think that you could replace those 3 fish with others and have a great tank although I am leery of pacus.
