giant danios with bichirs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Some might eventually become snacks for a monster ornate, but they are fast and fairly big, so it could work, at least for a while

I have danios with my birchirs havent lost one yet but the birchirs have tried to get them guess its only a matter of time

It depends totally on the size of the ornate and how fast it's growing. My ornate isn't growing all that quick, however he does have a bit of a nasty side, but saying that he's never eaten anything that he wasn't meant to eat.

This is one of those 'not a matter of 'if' but 'when' ' type of questions.

When you've seen a full grown ornate in person, you will realize what makes a good tank mate and what doesn't.

If you plan on keeping the ornate long term, then realize those danios will get eaten.

I had a 12" endlicheri take down a 5" yellow fin barb by grabbing it by the face. Ornates reach 24" and their mouths will be much bigger than my 12" endli's mouth was. ;)

I have, well had, 5 Giant Danio's with my 2 sens and my del (RIP) but 2 of them ended up getting torn apart, the bigger ones, I'm not sure who did it though. The other three have been fine for the last month or so but in the end its only a matter of time.

actually funny story i was looking in my 10gl grow out tank that has a 3" ornate in it and 2 baby giant danios one is 3" and the other 2" my ornate ate the smaller danio its amazing what they can fit in their mouths

Like everyone said, it'll probably not last long term. Depending on the size, the Danios will eventually start going down one by one.
