giant elephant knife?

Has anyone heard of these? We just got them in from the wholesaler labeled as "giant elephant knifes" supposedly come from india or thailand area, they have the same coloration as the banded knife that river wonders has, cept that they are fatter and have a face similar to elephant nose fish.

Anybody seen these before?
We also got in some "calico brown knifefish" they look like regular bgk but are brown with black spots.

I will post pictures when i go into work tomorrow.

Is is Rhamphichthys rostratus?

We have a few at the lab that are what you describe... elephant or trumpet like nose. they are about 18 inches at the lab. A tannish brown with black markings or stripes.

I hate 'common' names. No one knows what the hell they're talking about because some ramdom wholeseller or retailer decides to make up some name because he doesn't care to bother to look up what fish he or she is selling.

Anyway, it's probably going to be from SA and not asia. Unless they've started glueing trunks on clown knifes. I haven't seen riverwonder's knife but sounds probably like some kind of trumpet nosed sand knife, they're often the ones that have patterns on them; family rhamphichthyidae. We'll need a pic to do anything but speculate though.
