Hi, I have a Giant Gourami that is around 5cm in length, and have seen a Senegal Bichir that I really want to buy. The Bichir is just under 14cm long. Everywhere on the Internet and in books, it says it is fine to keep anything with Senegal Bichirs, provided that they can't fit into the Bichir's mouth. Would it be safe to put the Bichir in with the Gourami at this stage, or should I wait until the Gourami grows a bit larger? The tank is a 5'x2'x2'/

It should be ok to put the two together.

You don't think that the Senegal (15cm) will attack or try and eat the Giant Gourami (5cm)?

No, I do not think so. Senegals will usually go for small fishes.

I think eventually the gourami will kill the bichir, but I dont think the sen could fit a 5cm Giant gourami in it's mouth...

Just wondering how much are you buying the senegal for? I just recently bought one and im loving it...

So you're sure about it being alright? The Senegal is $250. What did you pay for yours?

I have a clown loach in my tank thats about 4cm and it's not attacked it yet, so yeah it will be alright for a while but Giant gouramis get huge and will most likely kill your senegal once it gets bigger.

My senegal is about 20cms and I paid $260 for it...

So you reckon it should be sweet? i just don't want to risk the Giant Gourami whatsoever. What are your opinions on the Senegal, are they boring or interesting? What do you feed yours?

Very interesting and just plain cool, Im thinking about buying another one:)(going to try breeding them$$$$). It eats alot of frozen meaty foods, sinking wafers, dried shrimp pretty much anything hey...

Yeah, I reckon they're awesome and they are pretty rare around here too. Does yours hide alot, or do you see it during the day? What else are you keeping it with?
