Do they do well in these? I'm talking a maybe 6" RT with tetras and clown loaches? Everywhere I look I find mixed answers to this question, looking for personal expierence.

I raised 2 Redfin giant gouramy's from 4" with other fish similar size. Until they got to around 15" they started to get kinda aggressive toward certain fish. I ended up trading them both away.

I'm growing mine out in a 55 which will soon be in a 180, any similar size fish you'd reccomend I keep her with?

I have one in a community with oscars, balas, tfbs, SDs among others. Mine is 16" and they've been together for more than a year now and he's been gentle so far.

Mine is about 16" also, in a 'community' with other large aggressive fish. Its not aggressive per say, but doesn't get pushed around, and is the boss of the tank. If its small enough to fit in the mouth, its normally game. ;)

They make very good community fish, I got mine around the 6" mark.

Its a male albino GG, he absolutely hates silver coloured fish and will harass them. He also has a problem with my chocolate cichlid, but because I have a large tank that is 3 feet wide he has never bullied fish beyond just a small chase. They are very intelligent and personal fish. I keep mine in a 225 with a clown knife, 3 bichirs, 2 large tinfoil barbs, a chocolate cichlid, florida gar, large common pleco, and an achara catfish. this is a community of predatory larger fish and I have absolutely no trouble and have been fine with this selection for the last 8 months.

My GG never ever targets anything small. I put feeders in for my florida gar and the chocolate cichlid always kills them but the gar shows no interest. they are intelligent and he knows his food is coming in pellet form so he doesn't even waste the effort to kill a feeder. SO i imagine you could keep one in a community setting with fast robust fish, but also bare in mind that my florida gar is a fragile fish and the gourami completely ignores its existance. So yeah they make pretty good community residents especially when they are above 15". Mines currently around 12"-13" and hes actually pretty mellow besides the occasional chase, but the tinfoils are way too fast to even be bothered by his chasing.

The fish I kept also grew large. Here is an old video with the types of fish I kept mine with. They were a little over 12" then. Why I eventually took them out cause they would come up under and bite certain fish. Can't remember which fish but it made me separate them both into a 100g then eventually traded them away. I felt they were a m/f pair and would spar with each other.

My roughly 20" is the perfect giant gourami for a community. She is a exceptionally non-aggressive. Does not bully anyone but cannot be bullied in return. She gets along very well with any fish of any size. She once lived with peacock bass, GT's, CKF, Oscars and a lot other ichlids. She is now the remaining member of my 250 gallon with a silver arowana. Other fish in the tank include neon tetras, angelfish, pearl and blue gouramis and a few swordtails. She does not eat my plants in there as well as the small tetras. My advice is that you can only try it. Once the GG shows even a little bit aggression to fish of any size, you will need to move on and try again if you are okay with that. GG's are worth the gamble, though.

Do bare in mind like I said with mine, hes really peaceful to my tankmates except a select few that he just hates for no reason. So there is always the possibility that you could put dithers in to attract his aggression onto those. Tinfoils work great because for some reason GG's don't like silver coloured fish.
