Giant Gourami

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ive seen it live with other fish but it really depends on the fish itself....

some will kill everything, some will tolerate others,

tank size and being raised from a baby are also key elements in mixing GGs with other fish IMO

I was mostly wondering about if it vill fight with others of its kind, or if they'd like to be a few together. There is an lfs here that has 2 fully grown GG together with a 4foot silver arowana and a 4foot redtail cat
Is that a combination that is likely to be successfull, or has he just been lucky?

I have 2 true giants. I had to separate them or they would have killed each other! The one in my 125 fights with my pacu all day long! But they are GREAT fish. One of my favorites, with great personality. Here's a link to one of mine jumping for food!

Here's their pics! I know I have posted them before, but sharing in this post. If I'm not suppossed to "repost" same pics please let me know!

Very nice looking fish. sad to say I could not see the vid.
So GG's are not a groupfish, or did you just get the aggressive individuals.

I dont believe they are group fish either, but since your tank is so large, I bet you could pull it off. Sea World here has several in the same set up and all are over 18inches long I believe. I have heard that the albino ones are more aggressive than the regular ones and the red tail ones, but I am not sure if that is true or just rumors.

You can deffinaltey keep them together.

I have seen it done numerous times.

I have also seen it fail though...so you will not know until you try.
