Hey, Been looking for one of these since I set my tank up and finally found one. Got my nice 6"-7" pinkish gold coloured giant gourami today. So far the fish is really shy, I will come into the room to see him frolicking around, and once I go up to the tank he goes and hides, is this just because hes new?

He has a nice hiding spot and the only fish in the tank that even attempts to bother him is my 4" chocolate cichlid, but at the LFS he was in a huge tank with some other GG's and some chocolate cichlids, so I know he will be okay.

Any ideas what to feed them? hes still settling in so doesn't seem to interested in food, I have....
Cichlid pellets
Superworms (for my lizard)
spinach
lettuce
Blueberries
shrimp pellets
massivore
cichlid protein flakes

these are all the foods I have available so I would like to know what he would most likely go for? want to make sure I can get him feeding.

Thanks all and sorry I can't give you a picture my camera is STILL broken...

They are primarily vegetarians, when my 3 reached around 18", they were eating a head of cos lettuce and a half lb of peas per day. I had to do 50% water changes every day or so, even with 1200gph filtration in a 6ft tank, to keep it reasonably clean.

Sorry guys I said my camera is already broken, and I have really subdued lighting so my cell won't take a decent picture.
I've suceeded in getting him to feed today, hes taken Hikari pellets and cichlid flakes which is great to know hes feeding. the chocolate cichlid can still be a bit of a dick sometimes but he doesnt seem to bad today.

Chocolate cichlid is still acting aggressively towards the gourami. the gourami just swims away and doesnt even try to defend itself.
any recomendations for lessening the issue? is it just because the gourami is new? what could I do to minimalise the chance of fighting?
