I think mine was a male & this one the OP has is a female judging by the size of the abdomen.

saw one of those here in NJ. I hate the ones that spin their webs under water those things are big and nasty. I pulled one up when I was like 5 in a jar scared the sh** out of me

I get huge dock spiders at my cottage. They get about 7" up here, I've seen them eat frogs, and one unlucky pumpkinseed mistook it for some smaller bug. I don't care about Chuck Norris, it was the most epic battle I have ever seen
