I have alway thought of getting a Giant Pacific Octopus for my 720gal tank. are they legal to have? is there any way of getting one ?

I've kept cephs for quite some time and I've never heard of one of those in private hands. It would be relatively easier to acquire and care for one of the other large species, particularly Octopus bimaculoides. They get to a mantle size of about a melon with three foot arms and tend to be extremely social.

Go to tonmo.com for more info.

The 720gal tank that I would put him in is on my website . jsshark.com
you can see it as well as my saltwater indoor pond.

I really want to see your tank.

Sold off my salt tank when I PCS'd from Ft Sill to Ft Leonard Wood in '10. I sold it because it was going to be almost impossible to move all of my corals and liverock. When I get out in '14 I'm going to set up my 150 for salt and get back into cephs. You can see pics of my mercatoris octopus here. I don't have any pics of my A. aculeatus uploaded at present.

JSS, Really nice setup! Make sure whatever octo you get your tank is sealed like a vault, these things are master escape artists! I think you are one of the few who has the ability and motivation to actually handle a GPO. The folks over at tonmo could probably find one for you...

just checked out the ponds, really cool!
that octopus looks like dinner to me... lol
