hey guys so as some of you may know, i got this big 100 gal custom tank off craigslist last sunday. it came with this HUGE pond aerator and its got 8 ports for different air stones. it came with all 8 airstones and lets just say the airstones are each the size of jump rope handles (6" airstones x8). so i was wondering what the value of this thing was? i haven't even turned it on yet tbh because im worried its gonna shake the house because it might be loud. its made of stainless steel and its got a big rubber base to prevent it from moving. its a seamless tank made of glass (rounded edges no sealing involved). and it came with this 260 watt 4bulb power compact light fixture which i have turned on and the bulbs work. but since this tank is freshwater and the bulbs say 12000 K actinic blue i would need to change the bulbs cause that for saltwater, right? im worried about the fixture though because it does have some wear and tear, and im not quite sure if the fan works or not...?

so if u dont want to read this my questions are:

would 12000 K actinic blue bulbs work on a freshwater planted setup or would i have to change the bulbs? btw, are they expensive?

how much is a pond aerator worth? its got 8 ports for airstones built in and its made of stainless steel with a rubber base to absorb vibrations. it comes with giant airstones (6").

so the tank came with this 260-watt pc 4-bulb fixture with working bulbs... but it sounds strange and im not sure if the fan works? any hints on how to fix it (if) its damaged? btw its an odyssea fixture.

thanks for your time :)

What is the model number and mfg of the pond aerator?

Posting a pic and model number of the air stone would help identify it.

I have an actinic blue bulb on my cichlid tank and like the look of the actnic at night. For a fish only tank the only thing that is really required of lighting is that it shows your fish in a flattering way. For saltwater and planted tanks lighting seems to me to be a whole science of its own.
