I just went to one of the LFS' I go to, and in a tank they had these freshwater puffers that were labeled Giant Puffers. They were roughly 6" and were definitely in a freshwater tank. They def. weren't an mbu or fahaka, they looked almost like giant figure 8's. Anyone have an idea of what they are? and if you do, how big do they get? Thanks in advance.

a pic would be nice...most likely its some brackish puffer being put into a fresh tank maybe???

what color was the puffer? did it have orange on it?

that looks like the fugu puffer the japanese eat..

It really could have been any puffer. I see T. palembangensis labeled as king kong puffers or giant puffers all the time. It was most likely a fugu given your description.
