Giant River Prawn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Juveniles are very cheap and if you live where it is warm enough they can be dumped into your pond, they are howevere, cannibals and aggresive hunters of fish.

over here in Singapore and the rest of Asia we have prawn fishing ponds that are stocked with them. we catch them using a pole with a small hook and line baited with slivers of cockle or meat. ah yes... be careful of the pincers

i had a 4-5" river prawn in with my cichlids for a week or two....and then my jd ripped its face off so it died....that thing cost me 8 bucks at the lfs and they didnt even eat the rest of the thing just the head so i had to clean out the rest

With larger specimens, the tables are often turned. Some 12-inch M. rosenbergii will quite literally attempt to shred anything, irrespective of size, kept with them.

they sound like crayfish the way everbod. says they rip everythin to pieces

makes me wanna own one of those fine speicemins :naughty:

yeah, there like these things here in aus, they get huge, there's a pic of one thats 43cm long and its still like 20cm shorter then the single claw found
