Does anyone own a giant salamander I no some are critically endangerd just wonderd. If they are available and what sort of enclosure/pond one would need for them.

Hellbenders are pretty abundant in some parts of the us...not sure if its legal tho

Def. Endangered sorry on the mistake of saying they were abundanunt in certain areas. There should be something smaller/similiar thats legal tho.

I have heard of a few being owned in Asia that have been kept for decades. I am not familiar with any being kept in the west.

They are common in our area but you can't keep them. They are protected.

Actually at the moment non native Chinese giant salamanders are killing of the Japanese giant salamanders
