Well i would like to purchase this filter right here. I am going this large because cost wise it just makes more sense than others. This comes with a pump but i have only used submersible pumps before. This pump says it can get air out of it, but would i have to drill my sump in order for it to work? Or could i rig it somehow. I would like to connect it to the 360 either in the sump or directly into the tank canister style. Any advice would be nice.

Or would it make more sense to just buy a sand filter tank, and connect my own submersable pump to it and run it canister style back into the sump?

I think trying to hook it up canister style will result in poor performance and possible motor damage. I am pretty sure these style pumps are not suction pumps, so it could be damaged. They are also meant to be hooked up to an over flow, so trying to do a siphon style might result in poor performance.

Just MHO but I don't know much about them so take this free input for what its worth.
