I was wondering what you guys feed to your giant snake head. i recently acquired a 10 inch giant snake head. but it doesnt seem to be eating a lot. i have a few feeder guppies in the tank, but they seem to be too fast for the snakehead to catch. I tried hand feeding the snakehead but he doesnt seem to respond to it. I tried feeding microworms and he just ignored it. Im curious how to prepare fish food, for example sliced tilapia? do i just slice it up and get a slice and try to feed it to him? or is there a step i am missing

Big mealworms, market prawns and fish, feeders(qt them..), pellets. Although Mines not a micro but their diet is the same.
Let the fish settle in.. It won't straight away eat off your hand.. Let it get used to the tank! Mine didn't eat properly at first but after a while.. It goes nuts for Massivore pellet! Hope it helps!! :)
For big pieces if fish just make sure it fit their mouths

Thanks! well i've had him for a month and still he isnt a big eater. I added hiding places for him, where he just stays inside with his head out looking everywhere, its creepy sometimes, cause i feel like he's watching me haha. do i have to starve him so he'll take sliced pieces of fish?

Pleasure to help! You can try starving him though.. I didn't try that for mine. But there are times where my fish would randomly go on hunger strikes.. My Channa bleheri for example.. Didn't touch any food for 5 weeks.. But after awhile slowly, he started eating and now is eating like a horse. No need to feed everyday, they'll become fat fast and die early.... Normal for fish to go on hunger strikes. Mind if I ask how big is your tank? And if you have other tank mates?

If it was from another fishkeeper, perhaps you can ask him/her what was the usual diet for the fish. Who knows, maybe it was fed with pellets?? Ask the previous owner.

im currently keeping him in a 4'x2'x2' aquarium. he has no tankmates. I asked the previous owner, and he says he feeds it feeder guppies as well. i do believe he is starving, he seems skinny. theres about 50 feeder guppies with him in there.

Is it a new tank set-up or one that is fully cycled? When you add/replace water, do you make sure that the water has all harmful chlorine and chloramine removed?

Would be better if we can see pics of the fish :) in my own experience, the only reason my fish won't take any food is because the water quality is bad, hunger strikes for no reason, when it's stressed from transfers, being bullied or injured.. Would be great help if we can see pics of the fish
