Giant snakehead fins are becoming red! Help me identify what this is and how to treat it before it’s too late. Thank you.

Could be early septicemia. Are you able to check your water parameters? What are you feeding? How often are you feeding? Tankmates? I’d up water changes to twice a week for now.

FWIW - I have no idea what the issue is with the red fins on your fish, but I have a big pike and he developed red fins and skin blotches after a rescaping of his tank. I thought it was some stress reaction to the change. I never did figure out what it was for sure, but a few weeks later I treated the tank with Kanaplex for something else on a different fish.

The red fins and splotches cleared up over night. I'm thinking is was actually septicemia.

I had the same exact issue with a couple polys and did the same treatment, one cleared up right away and the other didn’t, but that one was much worse
I think early treatment is the key

PH is great, haven’t really checked for anything other than that. ; to put you in context, couple weeks ago my 3 foot bullseye snakehead randomly died, no signs of anything perfect colors, fins ect, following up my alligator gar died too, as well as 0 signs what so ever of anything. I changed water several times, added salt, medicated the Aquariam and came to the realization my giant snakehead was losing its fins, turning red, and not eating.

As for there food, I fed fresh fish, shrimp ect. I believe there may be a parasite from one of the fish I feed them or shrimp which resulted into the previous snakehead, gar dying.

Current tank mates are: peacock bas, jaguar cichlid, Arowana, red tail catfish, goruami, and an eel.
