Has anyone tried to breed these guys? i have three of them that r about 26" to 28" . I have raised them since they were about 5". I have read alot about them and everything tells me that they dont usually get along in the same tank when they are that big only when they r young . Just tring to decide how big of a tank i should build for them . If anyone has any info on these guys it would be greatly appricated thanks

i used to want one. Now I feel bad about feeding them live fish. They are vicious eaters.

Giant snake head comes from south east asia . And we have them everywhere here in Thailand. I don't believe that you can breed them in a Aquarium ...because of it sice . In the wild snake heads can grow up to max 20 kg or 40 pounds... But the sice isn't the problem....but snake heads need something to built a kind of bird looking nest ! And both Male and female will take care of the nest and protect them after the babies are arround 10 - 15 inch long. In the wild you can spot the babies very easy,. the babies are always close to the sureface to breath AIR the Parents are just close under to protect them from anything....even not scare of human :)

Thanks for the info i didnt realize that the parents protected the young for such a long time .my friend li es in tailand and i really want to go there to try and catch a monster and possibly see some young in the wild thanks again

yeah they build nests, i cant remember but i think for what i can that reds take years to fully reach sexual maturity too by which time they are generally so territorial you need a group in a pond for it to be successfully and then once one pair spawn they generally systematical kill every other sh in the water to protect the young as well as any other treat to the young...
