I was thinking about breeding a trio of Ancistrus in my 75 gallon community setup but there's one thing stoping me. I have in there now a 4" gibbiceps pleco and I know they aren't always the best with other Plecos. Going off his record he has only ever been kept with one species of pleco and after several months of living with him he eventually charged at him to kill him. Now I feel one reason may be that the other pleco was a Whiptail which I believe are pretty fragile and also the last tank the two were in was a 30 tall and my Whiptail could never lift himself off the bottom so it may have been a territory issue. With the 75 gallon there's over 2 times as much floor space and my gibby normally sticks to he piece of driftwood on the far right side of the tank, if I put another piece on the left for the BNs would he still harass them or just leave them be?

Pleco fry are easier to catch for another pleco to munch on then your cutteri fry also they would be seen as competition for food. Doesn't hurt to try it out but like I use to say "Hope for the best, Prepare for the worst". Gibby's can be mean but I have had some that were very gentle and stayed out of everyone's way. Just depends on that individual pleco's personality.
