Hey folks, I have a pretty large red tailed cat that has a real bad case of gill curl. The thing is its only on one side. It has reached the plate and has been like this for a while now. My question is is there nothing I can do? Ive kept the water as clean as possible. Ive seen a procedure done on youtube trimming the gill of a arowana.
The fish seemed fine after. The thing is I dont wanna kill my rtc. Is it safe to perform this kinda of thing? The gill curl is just annoying the **** out of me and really takes away from the fish's beauty. Its about 20" and eats like a pig and is very active. So its a healthy fish and is not being affected by the condition. Its just an eye sore. The first thing people always say is whats wrong with its gill?
Also how do I find a aquavet to perform the procedure? Is it expensive? There are mfk members that keep pointing it out on my threads. "Your fish has gill curl" well no ****, there's not a whole lot of things that can be done about it. So who knows of a fish doc in southern cali that can help me out?
