My TSN has had his right gill somewhat odd since I purchased him I'm fairly sure. he was about 2" when I got him.. and is now over 12" =D .. the gill appears to be curled under, or possibly missing?.. but just at the very front towards his mouth. It looks like a chunk was taken out for lack of a better description. But there is no signs of damage to the area and he is fairly skittish yet to try and take a real good look at him. When I moved him into his new tank last week I attempted to get a peek, But he was having none of it. and decided it was best to just leave it be. The other gill is perfectly normal? Can only one gill curl? or do you guys think this is possibly a genetic defect or injury from his initial shipping? he was so small I can't say 100% it wasn't there to begin with. But he wasn't red, bleeding, ect when I got him. I've considered sedating him to get a better look at it, but would appreciate some advise on the matter first.

It could be gill curl. We do need pics to tell.
